Criminal charges for Gulf explosion, why? — The American, A Magazine of Ideas

June 5, 2010

Is anyone wondering why the Obama administration is now looking at criminal charges before the Gulf of Mexico oil leak has been stopped? Apparently the price for fairness in this matter is higher than the million $+- that BP contributed to Obama’s campaign.

Established businesses generally like a stable political climate regardless of the form, however,  communist or socialist governments are more useful at limiting competition, therefore, a favorite of established business. The only question is what is the price.

If you consider starting a competitive business you will find the regulations over whelming. These regulations are erected to keep out competition, not protect consumers, you may be able to raise the necessary capital to start and run the business, but the bureaucratic hurdles are designed to make you think twice before starting a competing business. Look at the article from the American Magazine about what Washington DC is doing.

How Washington Just Worsened the Gulf Oil Spill — The American, A Magazine of Ideas.

Can anyone imagine George Washington, Samuel Adams, Ben Franklin, et. al. taking money from a group to pass laws favorable to limitation of competition?

If you read the Declaration of Independence and the original U. S. Constitution you will note that these documents refer to individuals rather than fictious beings (corporations).

This article and some of the comments are very good.  They expose some of the beliefs (as opposed to facts) of a certain movement. Enjoy the article, John Stossel is always a good read.

Five myths about America’s credit card debt – washingtonpost.com

February 4, 2010

This looks like a very good article from the Washington Post. I am sure you have heard there is a new law going into effect this month. The author of this article doesn’t think it will fix anything or much in any case. The credit card issuers have had since last spring to raise their payment level and their interest levels.  He indicates if you already have credit card debt you won’t be helped by this legislation.

You should share this with your students or parents. It also gives a history of credit cards.

You might also be interested in the fact that Chelsy Clinton and one of the Biden boys have very lucrative jobs with credit card companies or bank credit card divisions

Priceless: How The Federal Reserve Bought The Economics Profession

January 30, 2010

Here is a great article that will let you know how we can get an incompetent economist re-appointed to the Federal Reserve. One of the things that should have been done when this recession, depression, or whatever it finally ends up being. I am thinking depression. When this was first discovered the Fed Chairman and members of the OMC should have been fired and the Fed disbanded. They all missed the signs of trouble.

Read the following article for the facts.
